Programming Report

Laurie Schwartz, Fran Rubenstein and Kim Bixler met with Hilda Levine to develop a calendar of events for the upcoming year. After much brainstorming and discussion with the board, the following events are being planned for 2005.

  • Sun, Feb 13 at 5:00: Pot luck dinner and red wine tasting at Hilda Levine’s home. Members will receive an email and those without email will receive a postcard. RSVP by Feb 8.
  • March-April: Cooking classes at Wheatleigh. Groups of up to 10 can choose a type of food and experience a half-day ($125) or full day ($195) of preparing and enjoying food with the chefs at the inn. Kim will set 2 dates, one daytime and one evening.
  • May-June: Spring speaker. Possibly Frank Rhodes or Isaac Kramnick, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education. Possibly at the Norman Rockwell Museum. Toby will work on the details.
  • Summertime: Theater outing, perhaps at Capital Rep, Proctor’s, Barrington Stage, or Mac Hayden
  • Sunday, August 28: Annual Picnic at The Lenox Club. People agreed that the location and facilities were very good last year.
  • Sunday, October 2, noon: Millbrook Winery Tour. The winery is owned by John Dyson, a Cornell alum. $5 for the tasting, people will bring their own picnic.
  • October: Zinck’s night
  • December: Book discussion group

The programming committee was praised for their excellent work. The recent book discussion group was enjoyed and the opportunity to attend hockey games with the Albany club was appreciated.
