Opening Business

Minutes from the June 30 board meeting were approved with one spelling correction. Our annual report was sent to Cornell and our membership is in good standing. Our current database is not as updated as it should be. Toby is working on keeping the data in Berkshire County to make the updating easier. The Frank H.T. Rhodes Exemplary Alumni Service Award nominations are due September 15.

News from campus, from Shara

President Rawlings will attend “Homecoming Away from Home” at Yale on September 24. The Connecticut Cornell Clubs are sponsoring and we will be invited to join them.

Diana Daniels will chair the search committee for a new President. Laura Little will be leaving the Northeast Regional Office to enter a Masters of Education program at Boston College. Sonja Watkins Kelly will oversee the west coats Cornell Clubs.

The VP of Development has resigned to take a job at Yale.

Treasurer's Report, Marty

The balance as of today is $3,342.02. A deposit to the Lenox Club has already been paid.

Membership

Current membership is 33, including 5 new members.

Programming

Twenty-one people have replied to the brunch invitation. We will call or send a postcard if the number does not increase in the next week. The finances and menu are settled. Cheeses will be provided by the Clarks and centerpieces will require helium for the balloons. Hilda, Laurie, Carol and Marty will check people in, starting at 9:30. Kathy will prepare a flyer and bookmark with reminders of fall 2005 events and Fran is working on a basket for a raffle. Tiffany will sell books for the December book discussion. Toby is in contact with Andy Noel and will arrange for a gift for him and his family.

Zinck’s night will be October 20 at Firefly in Lenox from 6-8 pm. A $5 fee will cover hors d’oeuvres with a cash bar. Shara’s office will donate door prizes.

Sonja Watkins Kelly sent a letter thanking us for our hospitality to Professor German.

The next board meeting will be Thursday, September 29 at 7:15 at the Schwartz’s home in Pittsfield.

Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Erickson
