Annual Meeting Summary
Members in Attendance: Norman Avnet, Kim Bixler, Tim Bixler, Tony Cashen, Caroline Church, Tom Clark, Nancy Clark, Carol Treman des Cognets, Archer des Cognets, Maureen Dietze, Toni Eaton, Arnold Eisman, Kathy Erickson, Herb Eskwitt, Phil Gellert, Howard Greenstein, Lenore Greenstein, Ken Gumaer, Judy Katz, Alexia Lalli, Toby Levine, Hilda Levine, Martin Liemer, Jack Meakem, Diane Meakem, Renee Miller-Mizia, Ronni Monsky, Zoe Neaderland, Nancy Persily, John Rose, Fran Rubenstein, Sue Rudd, David Rudd, Carol Sabot, Laurie Schwartz, Martin Schwartz, Florence Seligman, Carolyn Smith, Carl Specht, Sally Torodash, Janice Wormington Toby Levine welcomed all alumni and their families and friends, thanked the Clarks for hosting the event, and also thanked President Lehman for coming. Ratification of Constitution and BylawsToby briefly explained the constitution and bylaws that were proposed and that had been on display in various locations at the picnic. She clarified that only members could vote. The constitution and bylaws passed unanimously by a count of hands, making the organization official. Vote on Board of DirectorsToby was then able to officially open the meeting. She introduced the proposed slate of board members. She also called for volunteers. Norman Avnet volunteered to participate on the board. A vote was called and board was approved unanimously. The Club's first Board of Directors and the ending year of their terms (June 30) are as follows:
Introduction of President Lehman Tom Clark, a member of the Cornell Board of Trustees and member of the Presidential Search Committee, introduced University President Jeffrey Lehman. President Lehman's CommentsPresident Lehman said that this was his first alumni event and he was happy to be in the Berkshires. He reported that all freshmen are now housed on North Campus and some additional services have been added for them there. He spoke of starting to plan for the 2015 sesquicentennial by focusing on the key areas in which Cornell provides international leadership. He explained the six areas he is suggesting and said that discussing these draft focus points will be an in-depth effort throughout the coming year. He then took questions from attendees. Toby presented gifts to the Clarks and to President Lehman and adjourned the meeting for dessert. |
