Board Meeting Minutes
Opening BusinessToby welcomed people and reported that the reunion weekend this year was very enjoyable. President Leh man gave an interesting talk and the campus looks wonderful. MembershipWe now have 74 members, our goal being 100. Members agreed to call those individuals who were members last year but who have not yet renewed. MinutesMinutes from the May 12 board meeting were approved Financial ReportThe club's current bank balance is $2,209.74. Toby announced the new CAAAN Chair, Elizabeth Young, and the new Scholarship Chair, Fran Rubenstein. Annual Meeting PlanningThe speaker's topic will be "Student life at Cornell." The speech will be 20 minutes, followed by a question and answer session. The brunch is scheduled to start at 1Q:30. David Palera, the chef/organizer, has been very helpful. The cost to us is $25 for each adult and $15 for each child. The board decided to charge $30 for members, $35 for non-members and $15 for youth (4-12 yrs). After Aug 7, each fee will be raised by $5. Carol, Toby and Hilda wiil meet to finalize the menu, but the tentative plan is for bread and muffins, omelets, waffles, a carving station, salmon, fruits, cheese and dessert. Beverages will include pitchers of mimosas, bloody mary, OJ and iced tea. Kim Bixler will be asked if she can work on decorations with a $100 budget. Kathy agreed to provide children's activities and Judy agreed to take charge of the activities, since Kathy will be unable to attend the event. It was agreed that we should try to publicize the event to Cornell Clubs of Boston, Albany, New Hampshire and Connecticut. New BusinessIt was-suggested that the Board make a calendar or events for the upcoming year to pass out at the annual meeting. The schedule will be tentative, but should reference the website where people can check for updates. Janice and Kathy agreed to get together to work out the details of the shared secretarial positions. The nominating committee reported a successful meeting. The next Board meeting will be Monday, Aug 2 at 7:15 at the Schwartz's house.Respectfully submitted, |
